Contest Time: Unique Portraits

As I sat this afternoon working on some of Courtney and John's photos from my last giveaway, I realized it has been quite a few months since my last contest. Well it's time to change that, but this time I'm going to do things a bit differently. Capturing colorful portraits of my clients' lives is one of my favorite things about this job, but when they present me with a quirky idea or location for their shoot that means something to them personally it takes things to a whole new awesome level. So here it is:

If you could have professional photos taken of yourself that not only show you, but that capture an element of your life that makes you the awesome unique individual that you are, what/where would you choose? Do you and your boyfriend share an affinity for bicycle rides through the city? Or perhaps you and the kids head down to your favorite local ice cream shop every Saturday night? Maybe your friends don't understand just how cute you and Spike are each time you take him to the dog park, but if you had that perfect picture to show them they would get it.

Whatever it is that makes you tick, if you would like your photo idea to become a reality just leave a comment here on the blog or over on Facebook telling me a little about it. The more unique the better! Next Monday I will be choosing one individual to receive a $300 gift certificate which will allow them to get that idea out of their head, have me put an awesome spin on it and get it on to their walls.

*Bonus points if your idea involves a location as cool as this (preview of an upcoming post)*

  1. My boyfriend and I met working at a daycare in Richmond. We both have huge hearts are both madly in love with children. I always thought it would be really cool to have our pictures taken on a playground goofing around. :)

  2. I love when my boys and I get elbow deep in play-doh or some other ultimately messy kid craft. I think capturing them during the creative process would make for good family pics.

  3. My family and I (husband, Son (16 yrs) and Daughter (6 yrs) have always wanted a "family" portrait...but we want it to show our main love....the mountains. Whether it be traveling to the different apple orchards (during the apple harvest festival), in Nelson County, or just traveling and stopping at the different locations along Blue Ridge Parkway during the leave change. That is our FAVORITE time to hit the parkway!! The leaves are beautiful, the mountains are at their peak of beauty and the peacefulness is quite amazing. Nature is a HUGE part of our lives!!! I think the changing leaves on the parkway would make an AWESOME background for family pics.

  4. My husband, son, and I would love to have a family portrait taken at the baseball diamond. My son who just turned one had a baseball themed birthday party and although he is still young we are trying to instill the love of baseball that we both have.

  5. My partner and I are both confirmed city girls but we also love rare patches of urban green space that lots of folks work very hard to preserve. I love spots, such as those on Belle Isle, where mother nature is "reclaiming" structures that were once active pieces of the urban landscape. There is a certain poetic justice to it considering all the green space that was eliminated in the interest of urbanization.
